In 1977, Hedenstedt et al. Reported that soot generated during the welding of stainless steel can induce mutations in bacteria and cultured cells. The authors studied the genetic effects of soot produced by manual metal arc welding (MMA) and metal inert gas welding (MIG) on Chinese hamster lung cell lines under in vitro conditions. Combine 5 × 10 ~ 5 cells / ml with 2 μg of 5-bromodeoxyuridine
