抗日战争是中国现代历史上最伟大的民族解放战争,是在中国共产党倡导的抗日民族统一战线旗帜下,以国共两党合作为基础,全国各界各族人民、各民主党派、抗日团体,各阶层爱国人士和海外侨胞广泛参加的一次全民族抗击侵略的战争。抗日战争的胜利,是中华民族团结抗战的胜利。毛泽东在《论联合政府》的报告中指出:
Under the banner of the anti-Japanese national united front advocated by the CPC, the Anti-Japanese War is the greatest national liberation war in modern history in China. Based on the cooperation between the two parties, the people of all nationalities, the various democratic parties, the anti-Japanese groups and all walks of life in the country, Patriotic people and overseas Chinese extensively participated in a war of aggression waged by the entire nation.
