This article describes Alan Keetin’s letterpress printing from A-Z: Fonts from the Typesetting Workshop. Keatin is one of the most important practitioners in the 21st century of experimental Toppan type printing and lithography. The book contains a collection of data collected by Keatin and his late partner, Sialia Stosude, since the 1950s, 39 hand-printed letterpress alphabets, displayed alphabetically from A to Z. Today, with digital typography as its absolute mainstream, Kickin embraces and uses letterpress and engraving fonts, using non-technical means and low mechanization to achieve some kind of unsystematic and precise application of fonts and colors. This book is a document of value to professional designers, or anyone interested in reviving letterpress, and having an interest in traditional and contemporary British graphic design history.
