由于中西语言文化、思维方式不同,英汉句子的结构也存在一些差异,李纳和汤生等认为,英语是主语显著型语言,它突出主语;而汉语是话题显著型语言,它突出的是话题而非主语。这一划分对不同阶段的大学英语教学具有重要的指导意义。本文着重论述了主语显著和话题显著这种基本句子结构的差异,以及导致的它们的思维模式差异,最后把落脚点放在低高年级两个不同阶段的大学英语教学上,这无论对教师还是学生都具有非常重要的意义。
