Objective: To observe the functional changes of vascular endothelial cells after neonatal asphyxia. Methods: Plasma levels of thrombomodulin (TM) and von Willebrand factor (vWF) in 42 neonates with term asphyxia were measured by ELISA and compared with 18 normal term neonates. Results: Plasma levels of TM and vWF in asphyxial neonates were significantly higher than those in normal control group, and those in severe asphyxia group were significantly higher than those in mild asphyxia group. Conclusion: Asphyxial neonatal injury of vascular endothelial cells, and may lead to blood hypercoagulability and microthrombus formation.
