“宁可劳而不获,不可不劳而获。以此存心,然后乃有事业可言。”这是史学大师顾颉刚先生抗战前书赠史念海教授的中堂上的话。60多年来,史先生以此为座右铭,孜孜不倦,苦心孤诣地从事历史地理学研究,著述甚丰,成绩斐然,与谭其骧、侯仁之并称为中国现代历史地理学界的三位著名代表人物,名传中外。 一心治学为报国 史先生1912年出生于山西平陆县。1936年毕业于辅仁大学历史系。在校时受清代乾嘉学派的影响,对考据学产生了浓厚的兴趣。四年级时,就撰写了《两唐书地理志互勘》、《西汉侯国考》等论文,受到了当时在北京大学、燕京大学讲授中国古代历史地理沿革史的史学家顾颉刚教授的赏识,经顾教授介绍,加入禹贡学会。禹贡学会取名于中国古代《尚书》中一篇系统的地理著作《禹贡》,是历史地理研究的学术团体,

For more than 60 years, Mr. Shi took this motto as his motto. He worked diligently and painstakingly on the history geography study. He wrote a very rich and accomplished series of achievements.
