在导演《辛亥风云》(周姬昌、周笑天编剧、武汉市京剧团演出)中,我力求再现辛亥革命波澜壮阔的雄浑历史画面,使之既忠于史实,又要符合戏曲的特殊艺术规律,力求做到“演戏非演史,传奇不失真”。辛亥革命是一场资产阶级旧民主主义革命,它推翻了二千多年的封建帝制,首倡共和新政,实为功不可没。对孙中山、黄兴等领袖人物的塑造不能脱离历史背景,对彭楚藩、刘复基、杨洪胜等英烈们的刻画要把握住不搞“高大全”、“现代化”,力求真实可信。作为戏曲导演,我认为这出戏必须以小写实大写意为基础,增强戏曲意识,调动戏曲
