In 1952, in commemoration of those martyrs who heroically died in the founding of new China, the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China issued a martyr’s certificate to the families of the martyrs. On the name column of the martyr’s certificate No. 1, three characters were read: Duan Dechang. Who is Duan Chang? Why should the No. 1 martyr card be awarded to his family?
