少数民族在中国画创作中一直是一个不容忽视的表现题材,在中国画少数民族题材的创作中,工笔以其自身的优势得到了很大发展。作为一个有着深厚传统的绘画形式,不论用于表现何种题材,其“尚意”的传统不能丢,少数民族题材工笔人物画并非只是工笔画表现语言与民族题材的简单结合,它需要传统绘画精神做支撑,需要对民族文化的深入认识与了解。
