Using ’Powell’ navel orange as test material, the changes of asA content and related enzyme activities in pericarp and pulp during fruit development were studied. The results showed that the contents of total ascorbic acid (T-AsA) and AsA in the pericarp were significantly higher than that of the flesh, and the changes of T-AsA and AsA were consistent during the development. The activities of GalLDH in the pericarp The trends of accumulation rate of T-AsA and AsA were basically the same, showing a significant positive correlation, but not obvious in the flesh. During the developmental stages, the ascorbate oxidase (AAO), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) and monodehydroascorbic acid reductase (MDHAR) activity were higher than the pulp; correlation analysis showed that the accumulation of AsA in the peel mainly depends on the activity of GalLDH, while the content of AsA in the pulp May depend on the AsA regeneration cycle system.
