The authors evaluated various staplers through clinical and animal experiments. Wound healing needs to go through three periods: acute inflammation, fibrosis and collagen reconstruction. Stomach anastomosis with sutures or staples has the following potential risks: (1) Needling trauma to the intestinal wall, aggravating localized blood supply disorders, and rough sutures such as silk, gut and Dexon fibers can cause submucosal damage; 2) Absorption and non-absorption of sutures are more serious and long-term inflammatory reaction and fibrogenesis reaction; (3) intestinal bacteria attached to the suture can cause infections around the anastomosis, abscesses and anastomosis
