人的意志与命运的冲突是古希腊悲剧中常见的主题.按古希腊的现念,命运是一种超乎人类精神之上的抽象观念,是无法改变的,不可解释的,难以抗拒的,但悲剧主人公仍旧用自由的意志和坚贞不屈的品质与命运抗争.悲剧性的结局预示了命运之神的强大和无法抗拒,但另一方面却表现了古希腊人对命运的不屈.索福克勒斯的《俄狄浦斯王》被认为是希腊悲剧的典范,俄狄浦斯的悲剧是一个非常典型的希腊命运悲剧.通过对俄狄浦斯的悲剧命运分析,探讨古希腊悲剧中的命运观念,进而理解古希腊人原始朴素的命运意识.
