At present, China’s domestic comic book market is still the mainstream of the younger age, school-age children’s comic, or fast-food consumer comic, suitable for adult readers outstanding comics are very scarce. The commercial operation of China’s animation industry is still in the initial stage of development, failing to form its own cultural characteristics. In fact, as early as the forties of the last century, the older generation of Chinese artists spread the Chinese voice to the world with anime, such as Princess Iron Fan, Sanmao Wandering, Havoc in Heaven and so on. After the reform and opening up, the Chinese animation industry that has lagged behind the world had to step up its pace of commercial transformation. However, the tidal wave of commercialization coupled with the immature Chinese comic book market left the elite talented. In recent years, the state has vigorously supported the cultural industry, and major cartoon websites and magazines in China have been gradually emerging. The author concludes with the successful experience of these excellent comic books that the cultural excavation and modernization of China’s indigenous themes have in fact untold potential to help modern Chinese comics move towards a broader artistic space. The article explores the trend and development of the modernity of Chinese local comic book creation.
