Jane Eyre, published in the 19th century Victorian period, is a masterpiece by Charlotte Bronte, a famous British female writer. The works are full of plenty of temporal resources. Describing the events of the past, the narrator is frequently interrupted by the present-day linguistic forms and shows a distinct temporal pattern of the present, past, and present. The frequent transition of tense plays an important role in the process of fictional text transmission narrator. This essay will study the temporal resources in Jane Eyre and explore the prominent role this temporal model plays in displaying the heroine’s ideology.
