The World Health Organization recommends the use of rabies vaccine and anti-rabies immunoglobulin (HRIG) in rabies-severely bitten. However, some people worry that the input of passive antibodies may interfere with the production of active antibodies. To this end, the authors conducted a controlled trial. Thirty male volunteers were bitten by animals aged 30 to 54 years old (mean age 37 years) without rabies vaccination. They were randomly divided into two groups of 15 people each. One group received the Merieux rabies vaccine; the other group received the Behringwerke vaccine. Both vaccines are human diploid cell vaccines (HDCV), but Behringwerke vaccines are purified by zonal gradient centrifugation. All subjects were immunized according to the 2-1-1 procedure, ie, deltoid muscle on days 0, 7 and 21
