Hearty congratulations on the publication of the first issue of the journal CHINA FOUNDRY! Foundry industry is one of the pillar industries in many countries. However, it is also an industry which consumes huge amount of materials and energy and produces huge amount of pollutants. Consequently, the technological progress of foundry production plays an important part in the global substantial developement. In the past all of our foreign friends knew that China is a big country of casting production but most of them had no concrete idea about the status of the scientific researches and training of the Chinese foundrymen, for example, they did not know that some hundreds of students majored in foundry are graduated from universities in China every year.
