Located in the north of Licheng County,between1500-2000 metersabove the sealevel, and with aterritory of over 10 wquare kilometers, Huangya Cave got its name from a natural cave hanging on a south-facing yellow cliff. During the Anti-Japanese War, over 1000 Eighth Route Army soldiersbuilt a munitions factory in this desolated area, which was then the largest munitions base with an ammual weapon supply for 16 regiments in the North China for the Eighth Route Army,giving powerflu supports to the anti-Japanese frontline. On Nov.11,1941,japanese invaders gathered more than 5000 soldiers, and attacked Huangya Cave munitions factory with the united land forces and air forces. Under the commanding or General Peng Dehuai and General Zuo Quan.the brave Eighth Route Army soldiers had had a 8-day bloody fighting with the invaders and killed nearly 1000 enemy soldiers in the area,making a unprecedent record in the history of the battling of the anti-Japanese war with the casualties of 6:1 between enemy and our side and ensuring the safe moving away of the munitions factory. Not only does Huangya Cave has a glorious history, but also beautifulsceneries. Along the 800-li Taihang Mountains, it is Huangy a Cave area that is the most typical where there are sheer cliffs, queer peaks, powerful waterfalls, and magic clouds;everywhere you go, deep caves, thick forest, rare animals and medical herbs, and grugling streams would meet your eye. Today, huangya cave has become a national forest park and the educational base for patriotism of the Province, where over 100,000 visitors home and abroad are received every year. With its magnificent natural scenery and immotal contri-butions, Huangya Cave is waiting for the guests from all over the world.
