文革前,知识分子题材是文学创作的敏感领域,知识分子题材小说以改造主题为主,宏大叙事盛行一时;宗璞通过对个人生活命运的关注表现出与宏大叙事的疏离,并将其对知识分子形象的正面书写一直延续到60年代。她的小说创作成为了中国当代知识分子题材小说重要的有机的组成部分。
