今天,一种新的复合刀具材料已经出现。这种材料的韧性和硬度要比硬质合金和陶瓷高得多。这种材料就是众所周知的“Amborite”,制造这种刀具材料采用仔细分级的优质琥珀氮化硼微粒,经高温、高压作用在金属参于下形成陶瓷粘结相。 这种材料的硬度仅稍低于多晶金刚石,又具有良好的红硬性。Amborite的这些特性使它成了各种机械加工的理想刀具材料。如车削淬硬的冷轧钢,淬硬的高速钢和冷硬铸铁。这些被加工材料的代表性硬度在HRc50~65之间。
