严格地讲,家父方济众绘画艺术成熟得并不很早,真正意义上的起步还应从响应“长安画派”的旗手石鲁先生所倡导的“一手伸向传统,一手伸向生活”算起。不管画派群体文化背景与个人现状如何,总体上他们都离不开“五四”新文化运动所留下的反传统倾向。后来这种倾向又被新中国成立后的社会主义建设主旋律所取代。可以说是时代向他们索讨新的表达方式,是时代要求他们必需对传统有一个新的说法。“一手伸向传统,一手伸向生活”的艺术主张,是立定 Strictly speaking, the art of drawing paintings by his father, Fang Jizhong, does not mature very early.
