Based on the data of Japan’s inbound tourism from 1980 to 2010 and the related theory of tourism demand, the main influencing factors of Japan’s inbound tourism demand are empirically tested. The study found that the income level of the country of origin is very significant for the demand for inbound tourism in Japan. The increase in tourism prices will reduce the inbound tourism demand from the United States and Germany to Japan. However, for Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, the change in the tourism price is not significant for whether or not it chooses to travel to Japan. The alternative price for tourism is more significant for its choice of traveling to Japan. The replacement price of tourism is negatively related to the demand of inbound tourism. Demand for inbound tourism is positively related to the level of trade between the source and destination countries. Exchange rate and Japan’s inbound tourism demand was a significant positive relationship.
