The active ingredient of gugulipid is mainly Guggulsterone (both Z and E isomers). Pharmacological Gugulipid is a potent lipid-lowering drug which has been shown to have significant cholesterol and lipid lowering activity in hyperlipidemic and animal experiments. In rabbits Gugulipid also prevents atherosclerosis and contributes to the elimination of atherosclerotic lesions.
