Postmodernism is a kind of social ideological trend that emerged after World War II. It advocates breaking the authority, hierarchy and order. It constantly challenges the grand narrative and the existing rules with its own subversiveness, inclusiveness and carnivalization. The essence of subversion and digestion Is innovation and change; its echo in the field of art is the blurring of the boundary between elegant art and popular art. Interestingly, Chinese opera focuses on freehandness and comprehensiveness, showing a more diversified development trend in the tradition of inheriting traditions and keeping pace with the times. Some traditional artistic concepts of Chinese opera resonate with the post-modernist thoughts. The common social dynamics mechanism behind the two and their enlightenment deserve further study.
