Objective To investigate the effects of biofeedback stimulation on the muscle strength and edema in patients with cerebral infarction. Methods From January 2011 to September 2014, 136 patients with cerebral infarction hospitalized in the Fourth People’s Hospital of Langfang City were studied. All of them had decreased muscle strength of upper and lower limbs, with 52 cases of lower extremity edema. According to the order of admission randomly divided into odd control group and even into the electrical stimulation group, 68 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional basic therapy and exercise rehabilitation. The electrical stimulation group was treated with muscle dysmotility based on the control group. Observed after 2 courses of treatment of two groups of patients with paralyzed muscle strength and edema symptoms improved. Results The muscle strength of upper limbs and lower limbs in the control group increased compared with before treatment, but the difference was not statistically significant (χ2 = 2.30, P> 0.05; χ2 = 2.18, P> 0.05) (Χ2 = 16.07, P <0.05; χ2 = 15.40, P <0.05), which was significantly higher than that of the control group (χ2 = 7.94, P <0.05; χ2 = 10.23, P <0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the recovery of muscular strength of upper limbs and lower limbs after treatment (P> 0.05). The symptom of lower extremity edema in electrical stimulation group was significantly improved compared with control group (P <0.05) χ2 = 4.95, P <0.05). Conclusions Biofeedback stimulation is helpful to the recovery of paralytic muscle strength and the improvement of edema symptoms in patients with cerebral infarction.
