无磁钢为普低钢加锰元素浇铸而成,含锰量14—17%,硬度在HRC45—50,且塑性差,热膨胀系数大,导热性也差。由于无磁钢的塑性差因此抗拉性能比碳钢差,焊接热应力的作用,将导致焊缝在无磁钢一侧出现剥离现象,再者无磁钢导热性差,在焊接热影响区容易出现过热组织,形成脆断,所以说无磁钢可焊性差,而碳钢的可焊性好。
