An international cancer conference entitled“Cancer Therapy for the New Millennium:Mainstream,Complementary andAlternative Care”has been scheduled to take place in Palermo,Italy,October 12-14,2000.This 3-day meeting,reviewing both mainstream and alternative/complementary care,boasts presentations from some of theworld’s leading specialists.Gianni Bonadonna,MD,Chief of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Italy,will bespeaking on the future of breast cancer treatment,and Umberto Veronesi,MD,Director of the European Institute of Oncology,willdiscuss new perspectives in cancer treatment.Other faculty members include Paul P.Carbone,MD,Professor of Medicine Emeritus,University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center,who will present on the future of cooperative group clinical trials inchemotherapy;Eliezer Robinson,MD,president of the International Union Against Cancer(UICC),Haifa,Israel,who will reviewinternational collaborations;and Lucio Luzzato,MD,Chairman,Department of Human Genetics,Memorial Sloan-Kettering CancerCenter.New York,who will discuss expectations in clinical genetics.
