Nowadays, literary narrative research is a vibrant and diversified activity characterized by a variety of research methods. In terms of these methods, there are currently five research topics of particular significance: non-mimetic narrative, digital narrative, the distinction between true and fiction, narrative space, and rhetorical aesthetics. Rhetorical aesthetics is not a universal standard for judging the quality of literature, but is to understand how narratives function on their own terms and to understand the standards that are properly used to judge narrative conditions. A comparison of the end of Raymond Chandran’s novel Sleeping and the adaptation of Howard Hawks’s adaptation of the novel to the end of the film shows that these standards are not only about aesthetics but also about the relationship between form, ethics and aesthetics Interrelationship.
