A small diameter marine cable for marine engineering seismic surveys has been designed and produced to carry out exploration work in shallow sea areas 0-100 meters deep. This cable was designed in view of the requirement of inexpensive engineering seismographs as recording equipment for acquiring the seismic compressional wave velocity of marine sediments in the shallow ocean floor. The unusually high seismic velocities in the Poitats Sea are a sign of glacial deposits. So the cable was originally designed to measure the speed of the sea floor. The required cable depth of the design is 5 m from the sea floor and can record the high refractivity (about 3000 m / s) of the 20 m formation below the sea floor (see
