“Sula” reproduces the fate of black women under the clash of black and white culture. This article mainly analyzes the reconstruction of the status of Helena, Nair, Eva, Hanna and Sula for the representatives of black women in the novel. Racism imposed on black communities and the cultural hegemony of white people lead to the black culture’s deconstruction. At the same time, black women are in a double trap of racism and patriarchy, and their status is becoming increasingly crisis-oriented. Therefore, the black women in “Sula” try their best to identify themselves. Different body political concepts guide them to choose a different life path. The viable road to the future development of black women and black people lies in recognizing the importance of the black female body, establishing a correct gender perspective and body politics, eliminating internal discrimination and jointly resisting external oppression.
