在科学技术电化教育和电影放映中,银幕的性能直接影响到放映图象的质量。过去我国银幕多数是以几块布质银幕拼接成大银幕,因此使银幕拼缝处的图象受到扭曲,影响图象质量。上海电影银幕厂经过努力,已在一九八五年三月首次为上海大光明电影院制成6米×16米独幅银幕。由于在上海化纤科研所和耀华玻璃厂等单位的支持下,该银幕采用新颖的复合材料,光学效果特别好,经试映后图象清晰明亮,大大提高了放映质量并降低放映机的能耗,技术经济效果显著,确实是一种理想的银幕。纤维复合材料在化工和机械制造中早已普遍应用,效果很好,但用来制造电影机械则为数不多,而用来制造电影银幕更是一种创新。
