In the treatment of bacterial meningitis with antibiotics, severe inflammation of the subarachnoid space is the cause of increased mortality in this disease. This article describes the addition of anti-inflammatory drugs to antibiotic therapy that will significantly reduce the mortality of bacterial meningitis .
