The college entrance examination is a selective examination. In the past, college entrance examination scores were all expressed in terms of percentage points that were commonly used, and the main basis for college selection was the sum of the percentage scores for each subject. From the point of view of educational statistics and measurement, there are many shortcomings in this approach. For example, the scales of the examination scores of different subjects are different, the scores are not equal, the total scores of the synthesis are not equivalent, the comparability is poor, and so on. The results of the college entrance examination in 1995 will be expressed as a standard score, which is undoubtedly a great improvement. So, what is the standard score? What are the advantages of the standard score? How to use the standard score? Here is a brief discussion.
