三月廿二日市第二次修志工作会议上,市地方志编纂委员会主任、市长杨资元,向《广州市志》各县、局、总公司分志的180多个主编、副主编颁发了聘书,要求他们组织全市修志工作者,早日编纂出一部高质量的《广州市志》。《广州市志》记述年限从1840年至1990年,初定为12卷,100个分志,总字数超过1000万;并指定市属八区编修区志,以反映各区的全貌、功能和作用。
