党中央提出的“双百”方针,不论对发展自然科学或者社会科学都具有深远意义。就生物科学来讲,百家争鸣的意义在于使本门学科的各学派在不同场合能够自由地发表各自的学术观点而不受任何限制。观点可以不同甚至是对立的,不同观点的科学论文可以在同一刊物上发表和在同一学术会上宣读并展开讨论。如果能真正地做到这一点,我们的科学会突飞猛进的。现在实际情况与真正做到百家能够自由争鸣还有一定距离,是不利于自然科学健康发展的。我希望在生物遗传与进化的学术领域里各学派都能自由地阐述各自的学术观点,自由争鸣。例如以获得性遗传为特点的拉马克学派,以自然选择为特点的达尔文学派,以种质遗传为特点的魏斯曼
The “double hundred” principle proposed by the party Central Committee has far-reaching significance for the development of natural sciences or social sciences. In the case of the biological sciences, the significance of a hundred schools of thought lies in enabling the various academic disciplines in this field to freely publish their own academic opinions on different occasions without any restrictions. Opinions can be different or even contradictory. Scientific papers of different perspectives can be published in the same publication and read and discussed at the same academic conference. If we can really do that, our science will grow by leaps and bounds. At present, there is still a certain distance between the actual situation and the truly able to freely contend with hundreds of people, which is not conducive to the sound development of the natural sciences. I hope all the schools in the academic field of biological genetics and evolution will be free to elaborate their own academic views and freely contend.
