人的一生,常做着各式各样的梦,想作官的,想发财的,在那纸醉金迷灯红酒绿的花花世界里,多少人在做着浑浑噩噩的好梦。但也有另一些人梦的却不同,他们梦幻的境界偏偏在山野密林中,那里有他们追求的理想、道路,乃至事业成就,为掌握大自然各种植物的形态特征,生态特性,走遍深山老林,付出毕生的努力。我们怀念的蔡希陶先生就是这样的一位受人景仰的人。在云南,在我们这个“植物王国”的大省里,象蔡希陶先生那样为绿色生命奔波劬劳、贡献一生的还大有人在。最近我在采访世博会的竹园时,有幸会见了西南林学院77岁高龄的薛纪如老教授。薛纪如教授年轻时代就与绿色的植物结了缘。在他读中学的时候,偶然读到一本瑞典人斯文赫定写的《亚洲腹地旅行记》,对我国边疆特别是对新疆的地理风光以及动植物的描绘,使这个年轻人产生了很大的
