Objective To understand the depression status of medical staffs in Bao’an District of Shenzhen City and find out the influencing factors. Methods The sample data were obtained from random sampling of medical staff in Bao’an District of Shenzhen City, and the significant influencing factors were found by one-factor analysis of chi-square test and multiple factor Ordinal regression analysis. Results A total of 1 600 medical staff were investigated. There were 1594 valid questionnaires with an effective rate of 99.63%. Univariate analysis showed that gender, marital status, occupation, income, weekly overtime, weekly frequency of anxiety were statistically significant (P <0.05). Ordinal regression showed that the probability of depression in men was 0.89 times of that in women (OR = 0.89); the probability of depression was 1.35 times higher than that in medical personnel (OR = 1.35); with the decrease of income and the increase of weekly overtime, The frequency of night shift increased, the probability of depression increased. Conclusions Medication should be focused on the mental and physical health of women when mediating the medical staff’s stress. Consideration should be paid to increase the monthly income of medical staff, reduce the workload and work intensity, reduce the frequency of overtime work and work shift, and increase human resources.
