“獦獠”是禪録中一個極爲重要、極爲關鍵的詞語,不少學者都對其詞義作了考釋,但都未有確解。其實該詞在禪録中的詞義有時頗爲顯豁,或指代慧能,或指某一身體生理特徵。大量的語言事實證明“獦獠”及其異文“狤獠”等皆有舌頭扭轉彎曲的意思。在《壇經》不少版本裏,慧能明確地把對應於“獦獠”的話説成了“語音不正”。“獦獠”这一詞義的揭示具有重大的宗教學意義。 “獦 獠 ” is an extremely important and extremely crucial word in the meditation.
