Not all highlights point to the accumulation of oil and gas with commercial value. This comes from a pioneer in the field, a warning from Shell Oil Company. It has been several years since Shell’s explorationists used and refined their technology. Highlights helped them measure very accurately several new fields in the Sacramento Valley in the Gulf of Mexico and California. Shell Marine’s chief engineer, BS Fraser, said: “We have found several fields, some of them large and unpredictable, and we are very happy about it.” He warned that the highlight technology is not without error. Shell found that in many cases it produced anomalous bright spots similar to the reflections of commercially valuable reservoirs, yet they were indeed false anomalies. Some of these fake anomalies, happily honored as bright spots, include low-gassy gas sands
