夜郎关系着贵州古代史及西南古代文明，它的境城当与汉代的郡大致相当，其存在的时间是战国至西汉，普安铜鼓山遗址、赫章可乐乙型墓葬及咸宁中水巨型基可以证史、科史，汉墓的分布有助于寻找其中心地点，应当充分利用文献和考古资料，把研究提高一步。
