学界对于少数民族传统音乐的研究勃兴于十一届三中全会和改革开放之后,可以把从民族民间音乐的研究到民族音乐学的“西学东渐”、外部文化结构与内部音乐形态的双向延展,以及相关学术研讨与交流的广泛开展作为理解该项研究纵深发展的基本线索。学界对于少数民族传统音乐的研究从类型上分析,主要包括对于音乐现象本身的描述性研究、对于音乐本体的形态学分析、对于作为文化类型的音乐进行音乐文化学研究和跨文化比较,以及音乐史的建构,等等。伴随该项研究范围的拓展、内容的丰富、方法的完善和学术交流活动的频繁,该项研究也在朝着学科化方向发展,并且表现出注重田野工作和基础资料积累、多元文化开放视野和交叉学科的综合性等特色。推进少数民族传统音乐研究朝着规范化、学科化、理论化的方向发展,是从事该项研究学者的共同责任。

With the expansion of the scope of the study, the enrichment of content, the improvement of methodology and the frequent academic exchange activities, the research is also developing in a disciplinary direction and shows great importance in field work and in the accumulation of basic information, in the perspective of multicultural openness and Interdisciplinary synthesis and other characteristics. To promote the study of traditional music of ethnic minorities in the direction of standardization, discipline and theorization is the joint responsibility of the scholars engaged in the study.
