To investigate the relationship between pancreatitis and cytokines and inflammatory mediators in multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). 8 patients with MODS (Group A), 5 patients with MODS with pancreatitis (Group B) and 7 patients with acute edematous pancreatitis (Group C) caused by severe trauma complicated with shock or severe acute infection were tested for tumor necrosis factor. (TNF) and Endothelin (ET) levels. The levels of TNF and ET in group A were significantly higher than those in group C (P<0.001); the levels of TNF in group B were significantly higher than those in group A (P<0.05); the levels of ET were increased, but there was no statistical significance. significance. Tip: Increased release of TNF and ET is important for the pathogenesis of MODS; further increases in TNF and ET release (especially TNF) may lead to more organ damage (including pancreatic function) and even failure.
