毛公鼎又称鼎、毛公鼎,因制器者为毛公,故名。毛公鼎的时代要晚于上节介绍的散氏盘,是周宣王时期的重器。清道光末年出土于陕西岐山,上有铭文三十二行,共四百九十七字,为我国已发现的先秦时期青铜器铭文字数最多的。现藏于台湾故宫博物院。毛公鼎铭文,记述王命重臣毛公辅国协事,毛公感周王委以重任及赏赐丰厚,铸鼎纪念,并记载了毛公衷心向周宣王为国献策之事,被誉为“抵得一篇《尚书》。”郭沫若考证认为:
