After the fall of Wuhan in the Guomintang in the winter of 1938, a large number of revolutionary music workers took the forefront in the war against Japan. They went to the Shensi-Kansu-Ningsia Border Region and Central China and North China to fight against Japan after the enemy bases (hereinafter referred to as “base areas”) and joined together with the original literary and art workers in the base areas to jointly open up a new world of anti-Japanese music for the base areas. In this way, the center of the national anti-Japanese singing activities was formed in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War. From the winter of 1938, the cultural and art propaganda center was gradually transferred from Wuhan to Yan’an, a revolutionary shrine. At that time, the music creation in the base areas brought a very important influence on the entire Chinese society.
