矗立在延河岸边的清凉山,号称新闻山,是新中国新闻事业的源头,现在已建起了“延安清凉山新闻出版革命纪念馆”。清凉山有多大,是个啥模样?我的回答是很小,很小,我没量,估计是五百平方米见方。为什么人们称它为新闻山?因为新中国新闻事业的源头在此奠基。当时,日本、胡宗南飞机经常轰炸,这块地方多的是石洞、石岸,印报的机器房,是在万佛洞;装订房是在下边大石洞内,外边用石头砌了门窗。正像原新华社采编部办公室主任刘秀兰回忆:清凉山上有许多文物古迹、庙宇和石洞,刚上山时,给 Qingliangshan, standing on the bank of Yanhe River, is known as the News Mountain.
