汉译英是一种综合能力。要搞好汉译英,首先要对原文有个整体的确切的理解。然后考虑两种语言的差异,选用正确的英语句型及确切的英语词汇。在翻译时,不仅要注意每个句子本身的语法结构和用词的正确,而且要考虑上下文在意思与结构上的连贯。翻译的灵活性较大,译法往往可以有多种。译文质量有优劣之分,用词有良莠之别。下面以王宽诚教育基金贷款留学生1985年度招生考试《英语试题》汉译英部分作一实例分析。试题选自朱光潜《诗论》。(句子编号系本文作者加上)
Chinese to English is a comprehensive ability. To do a good job of translating English into Chinese, we must first of all have an accurate understanding of the whole text. Then consider the differences between the two languages, choose the correct English sentence and the exact English vocabulary. When translating, not only pay attention to the grammatical structure and the correct usage of each sentence itself, but also consider the contextual meaning and the structural coherence. The flexibility of translation is large, and there are often many translation methods. The quality of the translation has advantages and disadvantages, the words have good and bad. The following is an example analysis of the part of Chinese translation of “English Test Questions” for the 1985 International Students Enrollment Examination by Wang Kuancheng Education Fund Loan. The questions are from Zhu Guangqian’s “Poetry Theory.” (Sentence number is the author of this article)
