The new submachine gun disclosed by Germany-based HK at the European Defense Exhibition in 1999, originally called the Personal Defense Self-Defense Weapon (PDW), used 4.6 x 30 mm small-caliber bullets for the P90 PDW with a FN company in Belgium of 5.7 x 28 mm Bullets) developed by the competition. This weapon is not a simple improvement to the past HK submachine gun, but a completely new weapon with a different concept from the traditional submachine gun, and is therefore greatly valued by the military police. In 2000, the improved version of the weapon was used by the German military as a formula, saying the MP7 and the post-German forces demanded further improvement. In 2002, the latest variant gun MP7A1 was used as a standard by the German KSK anti-terrorist unit. In July 2004, the MP7A1 was equipped for use by the German “Future Infantry (IDZ)” system delivery unit. In the future, the MP7 series is likely to be used in next-generation German-made weapons systems as self-defense weapons for commanders, pilots, artillery and heavy weapon operators.
