We use free-electron lasers with laser seed sources that limit the harmonic output at the seed source laser by longitudinal coherence, amplification, and Fourier transformation. The seed-source CO2 laser saturates at a wavelength of 10.6 ° and outputs an amplified free-electron laser at a second-harmonic wavelength of 5.3 °. Experiments have proved that applying this technique and method to the theoretical basis of the vacuum ultraviolet region of the spectrum, the ultimate goal of popularizing this method is to provide a very strong highly coherent hard X-ray source.
