日本建筑一直在外来文化和本土文化之间徘徊。当国际式建筑风扉一时时,日本人都希望自己的住宅中至少能设计出一间欧式房间,以便体验到现代文明的生活方式。而今天的日本人却大相迥异,家庭中至少保留一间和式房间成为他们的强烈愿望。他们已经逐渐厌倦那些冷冰冰的公寓,不再愿意在缺乏生气,没有“家”的场所感的盒子里度日。外来文明的入侵与强烈的民族自尊在此激化并导致日本建筑思潮的逆向性流动。有人说日本建筑是古代学中国、近代学西欧、现代学美国。外来文明的吸收和本土文化的变革促
Japanese architecture has always lingered between foreign and indigenous cultures. When international architecture became popular, Japanese people hoped that they could design at least one European-style room in their own home so as to experience the modern civilization. Today’s Japanese people are very different, and at least one type of room is reserved for their family’s strong desire. They have grown tired of cold apartments and are no longer willing to live in boxes that lack enthusiasm and a sense of “home”. The invasion of foreign civilizations and strong national self-esteem have intensified and led to the reverse flow of Japanese architectural thought.
