1967年,国际奥委会正式将兴奋剂定义为“在比赛中,特定的选手或者团体为了达到对其自身能力产生影响的目的而采用的药物和物理学以及其他措施”。并成立了管理反对使用兴奋剂事务的专门机构。据国际奥委会医学委员去主席梅罗德亲王估计,在全球一流选手中,约有10%的人使用违禁药物;1992年世界卫生组织曾在西方运动员中进行过一次调查,接受调查的选手中有20%的人承认使用过兴奋剂。可见,兴奋剂这颗毒瘤在世界体坛中危害面之广,同时由于兴奋剂的出现,对竞技运动的公平竞争原则和奥林匹克理想带来了严重的威胁,正在危及高水平竞技运动的健康发展,对运动员健康和生命的损害十分严重。下面笔者将从三个方面论述:
