INTRODUCTION The stiffness of the elastic pier is one of the most important parameters in static and dynamic analysis of a bridge. It is defined as the force required to produce a unit displacement at the pier top. In order to estimate the stiffness of piers, the following three points are important: ① the type of deformation under consideration; ② the boundary conditions at both ends of the piers; ③ the geometry of piers. As far as piers are concerned, their ratio of length to thickness is larger, so their bending deformation is much larger than the deformation caused by shear force.
